KUPWARA, Jan 16: After three days of snowfall, authorities are yet to clear the roads and restore electricity in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district. The commuters in Kupwara town had to face tremendous inconvenience as the authorities here have failed to clear snow from lanes, bylanes even on main roads. Residents of North Kashmir's Kupwara district including Kupwara Town, Lolab, Hyhama, Chokibal, Budnambal, Handwara Villages and other areas of this frontier district complained that the district administration has failed to clear snow from main roads, let alone interiors. This has badly affected movement of vehicles and pedestrians, they said. Reports said that as the authorities have totally failed to clear snow from roads the villages of this frontier district had to face tremendous inconvenience to reach medical facilitation centre and are reeling under darkness for the past three days as Power Development Department (PDD) also has failed to restore electricity. It's pertain to mention here that roads to border towns of Karnah, Keren and Machil areas with district headquarters have been closed from last one month due to heavy snowfall. |
