‘Transfers Rs 6 lacs in personal savings account’

JAMMU, Jan 19: More skeletons are tumbling out from the cupboard of unabated loot of state exchequer in Rural Development Department as a former Executive Engineer, REW Samba, had transferred several lacs rupees in his personal savings account of J&K Bank’s Sidhra branch in 2017, under MGNREGA.
According to copies of invoices/ authority letters available with Early Times, from January to September 2017, the then XEn REW Samba transferred Rs around Rs 6 lacs in his personal account from the official account.
The XEn himself as an authority transferred funds under MGNREGA from his official Bank account no 06400102000000149 of J&K Bank Nandini Hills Samba to his personal account no 007604010009707 J&K Bank Sidhra, Jammu.
“On 25/01/2017, Rs 1,12,279 under invoice/authority number XEn/REW/S/2015-16/426 transferred in his account while on 02/02/2017 Rs 92,200 under invoice/authority number XEn/REW/S/2016-17/435 were transferred in his personal account. al account. Similarly, on 12/06/2017 under two different invoices XEn/REW/S/2017-18/38 and XEn/REW/S/2017-18/37 Rs 83,700 and Rs 1,09,200 respectively shifted in his account. On 17/07/2017 Rs 40,400 under invoice/authority number XEn/REW/S/2017-18/71 shifted in his account. On 22/09/2017 under invoice/authority number XEn/REW/S/2016-17/187 he shifted Rs 27,100 in his personal account”, copy of invoices/ authority letters available with Early Times divulged.
According to sources, transfers of funds made on 25/01/2017, Rs 1,12,279 under invoice/authority number XEn/REW/S/2015-16/426 was paid for POL and vehicle hiring charges, while rest of the amount paid with mentioning the purpose of remaining transactions.
“The issue of misappropriation of funds committed by the XEn REW Samba, was raised time and again but the higher authorities including Director General, RDD Jammu and others tried to hush up the matter”, they alleged adding that it is being hoped that UT administration, under the leadership of Lt. Governor G C Murmu will take these black sheep to task for bleeding public exchequer.
