Security beefed up across north Kashmir ahead of Jan 26; Union minister of IT, Law & Justice likely to visit on Jan 23 | | | S Tahir-ul Haq Early Times Report
BARAMULLA, Jan 21: Ahead of the Republic day functions, security has been beefed up across the north Kashmir district to avoid any anti national activities in the areas. According to sources that, the security forces have been asked to remain alert and more check-points have been erected and vehicles entering the major towns of north Kashmir including Baramulla, Bandipora, Kupwara and Uri. However a top security official told early times that security forces have been asked to remain alert and more check points will be installed in the coming days. "Yes all the security measures have been put in place to ensure the Republic Day passes off peacefully, even though the full dress rehearsal will be held at all district police lines, the official said. The official further added that, the security has been also put in place, as the union minister is likely to visit Baramulla on Jan 23. Even though mobile checkpoints have been established at several places in north Kashmir districts and vehicles are thoroughly checked, identity cards of passengers are also checked, so that no wrong person can enter into the towns, sources informed. Yet we have not used drone, but if need arises definitely we will put them in place ahead of Republic Day functions in north Kashmir. Pertinently sources while quoting the top rank police official Kashmir as having said that, there is a presence of more than two hundred militants in Kashmir region. |
