Early Times Report JAMMU, Jan 25: A team of Motor Vehicles Department, Kathua under Dr. Raj K. Thapa, Regional Transport Officer, seized four vehicles and imposed spot fine/ challan on 134 other vehicles. Fine of Rs 14.40 Lac was imposed under various sections of Motor Vehicles Act, 1998 & rules framed there under. The vehicles where found violating sections 113/194(Overload), 190-II (without PUCC), 3/181 (without D/L), 179 (Disobedience), 66/192-A (Route Permit violation), 177 (General) 146/196 (without Insurance), 184 (Dangerous Driving), 39/192 (contravention of RC) and indulging in other miscellaneous offences. In addition to challaning/ compounding, the drivers were sensitized towards importance of safe driving, including seat belt, helmet, fitness of vehicles, hazards of using mobile phone, importance of maintaining of speed limits and various other traffic laws. Pertinent to mention that the RTO office Kathua has imposed a total fine of Rs. 1.32 crore on traffic violators in the current financial year till the end of Dec. 2019; which is highest among the non- capital districts. |
