Early Times Report
JAMMU, Jan 25: Taking cognizance over the complaints received from different quarters regarding supplying of the material component to different works under MGNREGA through vendors, the District Development Commissioner (DDC) Kishtwar placed, Block Development Officer (BDO) Marwah holding additional charge of BDO Warwan, under suspension with immediate effect. As per the details available with Early Times, the order issued by DDC reads that, "Whereas, on the basis of complaints pouring from different quarters enquiry was initiated through District Statistics & Evaluation Officer Kishtwar on the issue of supplying the material component to different works under MGNREGA through vendors, clear cut directions were given by DDC Kishtwar to Rural Development Department not to release or disburse the funds among the vendors for Material component under MGNREGA.” Whereas, despite of clear cut directions, the Block development Officer Marwah, Riaz Ahmed Lone released and disbursed the fund among the vendors under MGNREGA for supplying Material component thereby violating the orders of District Programme Coordinator, MGNREGA (District Dev. Commissioner Kishtwar) which is a source of deep concern and invites punitive action." Keeping in view of the above facts, DDC Kishtwar, suspended Block Development Officer Marwah holding additional charge of BDO Warwan, with immediate orders. Further, the Additional District Development Commissioner Kishtwar, MohdHanief Malik shall initiate the enquiry into the matter and submit the report to the office of DDC by or before 10th of February 2020. Besides, BDO Inderwal Tariq Syed Sohrawardhy shall hold the additional charge of Block Development Officer Marwah and BDO Warwan in addition to his own duties till further orders. Speaking to Early Times, Riaz Ahmed Lone said that he was not aware about any such order putting ban on withdrawal of material payments adding that he had only made a payment of around Rs 20 lakhs that too on the name of registered vendors whose record and claim was updated on the official website of the department. He said that once he received communication from ACD Kishtwar to stop payments on account of material component, he stopped the same. Lone said that he had done nothing wrong and hoped that he will get justice from the inquiry committee headed by ADDC Kishtwar at the time when less than one week has been left in his service after serving the department for nearly 40 years. He said that he is open to any probe in case the payments made by him to the vendors found to be illegal.
