Army: Jaish-e-Mohammed leadership in Kashmir wiped out, Hizb-ul-Mujahideen left with only 1 commander | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Jan 26: The Army has wiped out the Pakistan-based terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed's leadership in Kashmir, 15 Corps commander Lt Gen KJS Dhillon said. Groups like the Lashkar-e-Taiba and al-Badr have been completely decimated, and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen only has one commander (RiyazKaikoo) left, he said. On Saturday, the Jammu and Kashmir Police said JeM's self-styled Kashmir chief QariYasir was among three militants killed in encounter in Tral in South Kashmir. Yasir is a Pakistan-based terrorist; he was behind the killing of two members of the nomadic Gujjar community from Pulwama district in August last year. It was JeM who claimed responsibility for the suicide bombing that killed 40 Indian paramilitary personnel in Kashmir last year. The attack was followed by a military escalation between India and Pakistan that brought the two nuclear-armed rivals to the brink of war. |
