Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 12: J&K Pollution Control Board Jammu conducted a public hearing at Panchayat Ghar, Khathar, Tehsil Chauki Chaura, district Jammu. The public hearing was conducted as a part of the environmental clearance process under EIA for Mining of Minor Minerals (River Bed Mining) Project at Khatharwali Khad downstream/Upstream Manoa Khathar bridge, Khathar Khad, Akhnoor and Chauki Chaura downstream Chagial Bridge at Vill. Khathar/ Manoa, Tehsil Akhnoor and Vill. Gangal, Teh. Chauki Chaura, District Jammu (J&K) for seven numbers of Blocks. These Blocks are 33(5/8), 34(5/9), 36(5/11), 35(5/10), 38(5/13), 37 and 61(5/36) situated at village Khathar, Manoa and Gangal, Akhnoor, Jammu. The panel for said Public Hearing comprised of Amit Upadhyaya, Tehsildar, Akhnoor, Representative of the District Magistrate, Jammu, Representative of Regional Director, J&K PCB Jammu and Arshad Nazir Malik, Divisional Officer, J&K PCB Jammu North. The Environmental Management Plan prepared for mining of minerals from the said blocks was explained to the general public by the Environmental Consultant representing the Project Proponent Nagar Singh Choudhary. It was followed by detailed public discussions and expression of opinions on various aspects of the plan. |
