| Drug peddlers arrested with narcotics in Katra, Udhampur | | |

Jammu, Feb 12: Police have arrested three drug peddlers along with narcotics in Katra town of Reasi and Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir. Police spokesman here said that two persons identified as Pawan Kumar of Serbad and Rakesh Kumar of Aghar Jitto, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi was apprehended on Wednesday at Asia Chowk Katra with 40.5 Grams of heroin. A case under NDPS Act was registered and investigation started. Meanwhile in a separate incident, police recovered 32 Kg of poppy straw from an interstate narcotic smuggler at Motorshed Naka at Chenani.
SSP Udhampur Rajiv Pandey said that Police Party from Chenani laid a naka for frequent checking of vehicles.
During checking, police intercepted one truck and recovered 32 kg of poppy straw from the vehicle and the driver identified as Sarabjeet Singh of Ludhiana, Punjab was arrested on the spot.
A case has been registered and investigation started. |
