Dheeraj Gupta reviews implementation of LED street-lighting project for capital cities

JAMMU, Feb 13: Principal Secretary Housing & Urban Development Department, Dheeraj Gupta, today convened a meeting here to review the implementation of LED street-lighting project for capital cities of Srinagar and Jammu being carried out under National Street Light Programme.
The meeting was attended by Avny Lavasa, Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation; Gazanfer Ali, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation; Bashir Ahmad Dar, Secretary (Technical) PDD; Arun Kotwal, Additional Secretary PDD; Sudhir Gupta, Chief Engineer Power Development Corporation; Chandra Shekhar, Rajneesh Rana and Bharat Bhushan of M/s EESL.
The meeting resolved that both the capital cities shall be fully covered under the National Street Light Programme by the end of March 2020.
It was given out that 80% of the project has been completed in Jammu city. However, due to inclement weather only 25% of the project has been completed in the Srinagar city. However, it was said that with the improvement in weather Srinagar and Jammu cities shall be fully powered by led street lights by end of March 2020.
The Principal Secretary directed both the Municipal Commissioners to define the areas which have not been covered and furnish the additional requirement, if any, for these areas by February 17, 2020.
Secretary Technical PDD and Chief Engineer PDC were asked to expedite the installation of infrastructure viz. poles, cabling, phase wire, fuse box etc for the timely completion of the project.
