Gender Sensitization Workshop organized in JU

Jammu, Feb 13: The Centre for Women’s Studies, University of Jammu organized a Gender Sensitization Workshop today, on 13th February 2020 for students and scholars of Department of Hindi, University of Jammu. Prof. Parmeshwari, faculty of the Department of Hindi, University of Jammu, while welcoming the resource persons spoke about the need and importance to hold this Workshop which is to generate awareness and sensitization about gender issues among the students. Prof. Vishav Raksha, Director, Centre for Women’s Studies was the key resource person who interacted with the participants on various aspects of Gender. She also undertook different brainstorming sessions comprising of various activities in which the students participated very enthusiastically. The other resource person for the workshop was Dr. Rajni Bala from GDC, R.S Pura, Jammu who spoke about Gender and Patriarchy and focused on how mechanism and ideology of patriarchy shapes our day today life and also threw light on the other issues like work and health related to women. Dr. Saranjit Kaur, from Centre for Women’s Studies took the third session and spoke on the conceptual understanding of Violence, its forms and causes and also narrated few cases of domestic violence. The valedictory session was attended by Prof. Parvinder Kour , Head Deparment of Hindi,University of Jammu who appreciated the Centre for organizing the workshop and congratulated the participants for attending the same.
