New born girl found dead in drain

KISHTWAR, Feb 21: In a shocking incident, a newborn girl was found dead in a drain in one of the posh localities of Kishtwar.
As per the details available with Early Times, the girl child's body was recovered from Ward No 5, a densely populated area of Kishtwar. The new born girl's body was found from a drain by one of the sweepers of Kishtwar Municipality.
The incident came to light today morning when the sweeper from local Municipality started cleaning garbage from the drains and found that a dead child lying inside the drain and accordingly brought the matter into the notice of the people who then informed the police. Police party from Police Station Kishtwar immediately rushed to the spot and took the custody of the child's body. Police have registered a case and started investigation.
Police later shifted the child's body to District Hospital Kishtwar where the doctors conducted the autopsy besides had preserved its DNA for further investigation followed by the burial of the baby.
Kishtwar town has witnessed many such incidents in last two years as well but till date no arrest has been made while the abortion drugs are also freely available in the market.
Senior police official told the Early Times that they are investigating the matter and had also examined the official record of Gynaecology department at District Hospital Kishtwar beside are also scrutinizing the CCTV footage of the area in and around the scene of crime.
