Capacity Strengthening, ToT Training on “Sujal and Swachh Gaon” by UNICEF begins

JAMMU, Mar 2: Secretary Rural Development & Panchayati Raj J&K, Sheetal Nanda, today inaugurated Capacity Strengthening and ToT Training on ODF+ activities under “Sujal and Swachh Gaon” which was organised by Directorate of Rural Sanitation, at Panchayat Bhawan Jammu. Director Rural Sanitation Leena Padha presented the welcome address. Trainers from UNICEF, Sarpanchs, IEC workers and Community Cadre of NRLM attended the programme.
Pertinently, Union Ministry of Jal Shakti, Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation (DDWS), in partnership with Development Partner UNICEF & PRIMOVE, Pune has launched a Capacity Strengthening initiative at National level, followed by extensive roll out in all the states and UTs across the country. The initiative is to target Village level functionaries for training and capacity building for Jal Jeevan Mission and ODF+ activities. ODF+ is an extension of ODF programme under Swachh Bharat Mission Grameen (SBM-G). Its objective is to sustain the ODF status and Solid Liquid Waste Management. UNICEF is facilitating these ToTs across the country and in Union Territory of J&K. The training programme is being conducted in two batches; batch-I from March 2 to 6, 2020 and batch-II from March 11 to 15, 2020.
Deputy Director, Rural Sanitation Jammu, Sohan Lal, and other senior officers and officials of the department were present on the occasion.
