Two booked over delivering provocative speeches on funeral of militant

JAMMU, Mar 2: Taking a strong notice, the Jammu and Kashmir police have field charge sheet against two people including an Imam in Ganderbal for delivering provocative speech on the funeral of militants who were killed in an encounter with the security forces and have been booked under Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (ULAP).
The charge sheet against the accused has been filed by the District Police, Ganderbal.
Sharing details, a senior police official said, “District Police Ganderbal has charge sheeted two persons namely Mohd Rafiq Shah, Imam and Jel activist, son of Abdul Ahad Shah of Shuhama, Ganderbal, and Bashir Ahmad Lone son of Abdul Samad residence Brain Nishat for delivering provocative speeches on the funeral of a militant Mohd Rafiq Bhat of Chhundna Ganderbal.
“Mohd Rafiq Bhat of Chhundna was killed in an encounter with security forces and during his funeral both the accused were reported to have delivered provocative speech and in this regard FIR No. 71/2018 U/S 13 ULAP Act was registered at Police Station Ganderbal,” he added.
Police official added that during investigation the alleged offences were substantiated and the case after conclusion of investigation was forwarded to Government of Jammu and Kashmir for obtaining sanction to launch prosecution.
Government of J&K has accorded sanction into the case and accordingly District Police Ganderbal has charge sheeted both accused persons before Special Court at Srinagar.
