State wide open cricket tournament commence

JAMMU, Mar 2: The Department of Youth Services and Sports District Kathua, under the supervision of DYSSO Kathua Sunil Kumar started State Wide Open Tournament in the discipline of Cricket in collaboration with Sports Council Jammu and Kashmir here at Sports Stadium Hiranagar.
The tournament was inaugurated by Chairman Block Development Council Hiranagar Ram Lal Kalia in the presence of Chief Coordinator of the tournament Iqbal Singh (Sports Council), overall in-charge Zonal Physical Education Officer Hiranagar Yog Raj Sharma, Activity In-charge Joginder Kumar Khajuria and other physical education masters and teachers.
Chairman while interacting with the players wished for their good health and better future. A total of 8 teams from different spheres of district are participating and initial matches for 6 teams were held on first day of the tournament.
The first match was played between Younger 11 Kathua and Rising Star Nagri Parole in which Nagri Parole won the toss and decided to bat first. While batting first, the Rising Star Nagri Parole made 149 runs in prescribed 15 over’s by losing 9 wickets. Sheetal added 39 runs of 29 balls.
While chasing he target the Younger 11 Kathua only managed 125 runs by losing 7 wickets and Rising Star Nagri Parole outplayed its rivals by 24 runs.
Again Sheetal of Nagri Parole clinched 3 wickets and was awarded Man of the Match. The matches were officiated by Avnesh Kumar, Omkar Singh, Rakesh Kumar Raju, Sanjay Kumar, Narinder Kumar and Sanjay Sharma.
