CITU organizes district conference

JAMMU, Mar 2: A one day district conference of Centre of India Trade Unions (CITU), Jammu was held today in the auditorium of Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust. Delegates from various unions like Asha Worker, Construction worker, LIC, NHPC, Railway, BRO, Rehri-Phari, and Industry etc participated in the conference.
Comrade OM Parkash, General Secretary, CITU cautioned the working class to be united and vigilant to counter the nefarious designs of Union Govt. who is hell-bent to curve the democratic rights of the trade unions. It is imperative for all of us particularly the democratic and working class masses to rise to the occasion and launch protracted struggle against the repressive measure of the present dispensation at centre. He demanded that minimum wages be fixed at Rs. 18,000 per month, Guaranteed pension as social security measures be fixed at Rs. 6,000 per month, implementation of pro worker labour laws.
Addressing the delegates, SP Kesar, Senior leader of CITU urged upon the Centre Govt. to regularize the services of Scheme worker including ASHA, Anganwadi. MDM, CPW, need base daily wager, casual, temporary and contractual workers and fixed their minimum wages Rs. 18,000/- per month besides resolving the problem of MGNREGA laborers. Kesar also appealed to the Govt. of India to evolve a mechanism to Generate and provide jobs to unemployed lots without any further delay.
Conference also elected 18 members District Committee with Jagdish Raj Sharma as President, Jia Lal as District Secretary, Romesh Chand as Treasurer, Anita Devi, VK Vaid, and Govind as Vice president, and Ashok Kumar, Bittu and Naga as Joint secretary. Some resolutions on the problem of the worker also passed in the conference.
