Samba, Mar 29: During the lockdown period of 21 days in view of outbreak of COVID-19, District Police Samba as a part of initiative “We Care for You” by J&K Police has been running a campaign to provide food and ration items to poor and needy people of District Samba.
Today, Police team of PS Vijaypur carried out another round of voluntary distribution of food packets for breakfast and later served lunch to the nearly 1500 needy people with the invaluable support from volunteers of Gurudwara Sahib Committee Vijaypur (Ramgarh Road), Sahib-Bandgi Ashram, Ranjri and local villagers of Patti, Gagore and Vijaypur.
The needy people includes migrant labourers, daily wagers, slum dwellers and other poor people residing near the villages Pekhri, Patti, Gurha Slathia Road, BDO Block Vijaypur, Railway Station Vijaypur, Railway Road Vijaypur, Near Little Angel School Vijaypur.
Earlier Samba Police had distributed food and ration items among needy people in the areas of Ramgarh, Bari Brahmana and Ghagwal to mitigate their suffering in view of lockdown measures. Samba Police is extending every possible help to the needy people especially migrant labourers whose livelihoods have been hit due to the lockdown and appealing them to stay at home and not to move out from their stations.
