Jammu, Apr 18: Asserting that there is no need to panic, Mumbai based Dogra Samaj Trust on Saturday expressed thanks to the Central and the Jammu and Kashmir Governments for reaching out and extending helping hand to the needy Dogra community stationed in the financial capital due to lockdown. Dogra Samaj Trust member and Advisor, Nidhi Sharma here said that during the lockdown, the Central Government and the Jammu and Kashmir Administration when approached by them through different quarters, extended helping hand to nearly 4000 daily wager labourers of Dogra community irrespective of caste, colour and creed. “Initially when the lockdown was announced, many people of Dogra community from Jammu, who are working as labourers in Mumbai were stuck up at different locations but the Dogra Samaj Trust tried to locate them and started helping on its own,” Ms Sharma said. She said that it was impossible for the trust to feed the large number of community people putting up at different locations due to which, J&K State Government and the Central Government were approached for the help and they responded positively. Union MoS Dr Jitendra Singh in the Centre, Advisors to J&K LG, Farooq Khan, KK Sharma, helped a lot and after their interventions, essential commodities like wheat, sugar, tea, rice, pulses and other items reached them. “Some of the members were still collecting funds from people on the pretext of helping community members but they need to do this because now the government machinery has started providing help to stuck up people even in hot spot areas,” she added and appealed that the left out 1500 families, will also soon get the essential commodities as people from the administration are on job. “We should not go panic at this moment and also not get trapped,” she added and appealed to the people that at this juncture everyone should stand by and stand for every citizen of the country. “Government is doing its best to feed every needy and poor,” she said adding that if someone on its level wants to help people, should come forward but those who are bringing bad name to the Trust need to understand that it is not acceptable to the Trust.” “Dogra community have a quality of skipping a meal to feed needy and poor and it is need of the hour that everyone should play their role by contributing their share to help such people especially the daily wagers,” she added. Ms Sharma however, said that the Trust is planning to construct Dogra Bhawan at Mumbai and when the time will come, they will appeal to organised people to donate wholeheartedly to accomplish the dream in a transparent manner. |
