KPC opposes new domicile law in J&K | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 26: Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) while expressing its concern about the recently framed domicile law for J&K by Union Home Ministry said that it does not protect the domicile right of a large number of Kashmiri Pandits of JK UT who had left the Valley prior to mass migration in 1990, who are real residents of J&K. President KPC, Kundan Kashmiri, stated although KPC is not in favor of implementing any domicile law in JK UT and oppose all diversities as long as JK is concerned. However, as per the latest domicile law is concerned there is a large number of Kashmiri Pandits who have migrated from the Valley became ineligible to obtain the domicile certificate under the new law. He further said that there is no clarity about the status of those Kashmiri Pandits and their children who possess a valid State Subject certificate from the designated authorities issued prior to the removal of art 370. Besides there are various KP families who did not get themselves registered as migrants with the Relief Commissioner in the year 1990 which results that under new law they and their children stand deprived of their rights to return to the Valley and to claim for domicile certificate. KPC appeals Prime Minister and Home Minister of India to intervene in this matter at the earliest and to sought out this grave issue at the earliest along with other long pending issues like passage of shrine bill, nullification of distress sale, rehabilitation of over age KP youths and adjustment of female PM package employees from valley to Jammu and other issues. |
