29 fresh cases push positive cases of COVID-19 in JK to 523, 137 persons recover so far | Active cases in UT are 380 with six fatal casualties | | Jehangir Rashid

SRINAGAR, Apr 26: There seems to be no let up in the Corona Virus cases in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir as 29 more persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the union territory in the past 24 hours. Reports said that all the cases have been reported from the Kashmir valley with no fresh case coming to the fore from Jammu division. With the fresh cases the number of positive cases of Corona Virus in Jammu & Kashmir is 523. Out of this 380 cases are active in the union territory. Official figures say that 137 persons have recovered so far and there have been six deaths as well. Anantnag accounted for highest number of 11 cases in the past 24 hours followed by Bandipora (eight cases), Baramulla (seven cases), Srinagar (two cases) and Kupwara (one case). The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 29 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), all from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 523. Out of 523 positive cases, 380 are active positive, 137 have recovered and six have died. “Furthermore, till date 66,977 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which includes 6,232 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 258 in hospital quarantine, 380 in hospital isolation and 10,763 under home surveillance. Besides, 49,338 persons have completed their surveillance period,” the bulletin said. The bulletin said that out of 13,959 test results available, 13,436 samples have tested as negative till April 26, 2020. Moreover, 25 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and have been discharged. These include 10 from SKIMS Bemina, five from JLNM Hospital Srinagar, two from CHC Kupwara and eight from Chest Diseases Hospital, Jammu. “Bandipora has 124 positive cases wherein 100 are active positive, 23 recovered and one has died, Srinagar 85 positive cases with 47 active positive, 37 recovered and one died; Shopian has 63 positive cases with 52 active positive, 11 recovered; Baramulla 62 positive cases with 42 active positive, 17 recovered, and three died and Kupwara has 47 positive cases with 39 active positive and eight recovered,” said the bulletin. The bulletin said that Anantnag district has 48 positive cases and all are active positive; Ganderbal has 14 positive cases with 12 active positive and two have recovered; Budgam 14 positive cases of which five are active positive with nine recovered cases; Kulgam has six cases and all are active positive and Pulwama three positive cases who all have recovered. Similarly, Jammu has 26 positive cases of whom 12 are active positive and 14 have recovered, Udhampur 20 positive cases of which 10 are active positive, nine recovered and one died, while as Samba district has four positive cases and all are active positive; Rajouri has four positive cases, one active positive and three have recovered; Kathua has one positive case who is active positive; Ramban has one positive case who is active positive. Meanwhile, Kishtwar had only one positive case who has recovered. The bulletin while referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the PM in his address today in ‘Mann Ki Baat’ has informed that to facilitate selfless endeavour of people towards the country, the government has come up with a Digital Platform covidwarriors.gov.in. “Through the medium of this platform, the government has linked volunteers of social organizations, representatives of civil society and local administration with each other. These people are of immense help at the local level in preparing Crisis Management Plans and implementing them. You too can join and be a Covid warrior and serve the country,” the bulletin reads. Meanwhile, the advisory issued in the media bulletin, urged people not to step out of home, unless absolutely necessary. “If you have to move out for unavoidable reasons, ensure that you wear a mask and practice social distancing, personal hygiene and frequent hand washing.” Similarly, all social, religious and other gatherings are strictly prohibited. |
