JMC removes more than 10,000 MT of garbage during lockdown | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Apr 30: In the prevailing situation arising due to outbreak of Corona Virus pandemic, the team of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) is putting extra effort to keep the city clean. The sanitation drive was started since 23 March 2020 and is continuing, where during the drive, JMC has covered various expansive areas, extended wards like Barnai, Sunjwan, the roads of Talab Tillo, Trikuta Nagar, National highway like Narwal highway Sidhra highway, Channi, Kunjwani highway which was facing a problem of accumulation of garbage since years had been intensively cleared by the teams of sanitation. During the drive desilting has also been done in deep drains falling in these areas & huge dumps & garbage also removed so as to give clean, healthy atmosphere around & improved sanitation to the general public. Further on many chronic areas twin dustbins have been installed. Apart from daily/routine lifting of garbage from entire areas, more than 3500 tonnes of garbage/silt has also been collected & transported to the dumping site at Kot Bhalwal as a result of these drives. In addition simultaneous desilting had also been carried out on daily basis in Kunj Vihar Sec 4 Nanak Nagar Landoi Choi nallah, Kabir Colony nallah, Kalika Colony main Nallah, Sanjay Nagar Nallah, Gandhi Nagar nallah and Talab Tillo in which more than 10000 MT of silt and garbage has been removed till date. Besides JMC in coordination with Fire Brigade, Jammu and Agriculture Department had put boom sprayers and new mist sprayers into service for cleaning all the main roads like Asia road, Airport road, Fly over, Tawi bridges, Gandhi Nagar roads, Jewel roads, Indira Chowk, Ambphalla roads etc. to contain spread of Corona Virus.
