SRINAGAR, Apr 30: The Kashmir valley saw a spike in Corona Virus cases as 33 more persons tested positive for COVID-19 today. Following today’s cases the positive cases in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir reached 614. Reports said the fresh cases were reported from Anantnag, Baramulla, Kulgam, Pulwama and Srinagar districts of the valley. While Anantnag accounted for 12 cases followed by Baramulla with 11 cases, Kulgam four cases, Srinagar and Pulwama districts two cases each, Budgam and Shopian districts one case each. As on date there are 556 positive cases in the Kashmir valley while as number of such cases in Jammu is 58. Since 216 patients have recovered and eight others have died the number of active cases in Jammu & Kashmir are 390. The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 33 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), all from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 614. Out of 614 positive cases, 390 are active positive, 216 have recovered and eight have died. The bulletin said that 24 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, four recovered from Jammu division and 20 recovered from Kashmir division. It said that out of 19,746 test results available, 19,132 samples have tested as negative till April 30, 2020. “Furthermore, till date 70,408 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which includes 7,335 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 193 in hospital quarantine, 390 in hospital isolation and 8,398 under home surveillance. Besides, 54,084 persons have completed their surveillance period,” said the bulletin. The bulletin said that Bandipora has 127 positive cases wherein 102 are active positive, 24 recovered, one died; Srinagar has 89 positive cases with 19 active positive, 68 recovered, two died; Baramulla has 84 positive cases with 60 active positive, 21 recovered, three died; Anantnag district has 83 positive cases with 82 active positive, one died and Shopian has 72 positive cases with 59 active positive, 13 recovered. “Kupwara has 49 positive cases with 30 active positive, 19 recovered; Budgam has 20 positive cases of which 10 are active positive with 10 recovered cases; Ganderbal has 14 positive cases with nine active positive and five recovered; Kulgam has 11 positive cases with nine active positive and two recoveries; Pulwama has seven positive cases with four active positive, three recovered,” said the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 26 positive cases with 26 recoveries; Udhampur 20 positive cases of which 02 are active positive, 17 recovered and one died, while as Samba district has four positive cases and all the cases have recovered and Rajouri has four positive cases, one active positive and three have recovered. “Kathua has one positive case which is active positive; Kishtwar had only one positive case who has recovered; Ramban has one positive case which is active positive; Reasi has one positive case which is active positive. The breakup represents districts from which the patients have been traced or are ordinarily residing,” said the bulletin. The bulletin said that people are informed that spraying or introducing bleach or any other disinfectant into your body will not protect you against COVID-19 and can be dangerous. “These substances can be poisonous if ingested and cause irritation and damage to your skin and eyes. Bleach and disinfectant should be used carefully to disinfect inanimate surfaces only. Remember to keep chlorine (bleach) and other disinfectants out of the reach of children.” Stressing on the early detection of COVID-19 to prevent the spread of disease, advisory said, “Let us be responsible for the well-being of ourselves and everyone around us.” It further said that not disclosing symptoms could put life of individuals and their families at risk. “In case of symptoms like fever, cough and difficulty in breathing report early. Do not fear, call COVID-19 helpline numbers and seek medical advice,” reads the advisory. |
