| Jammu School Education distributes free books in border belts, announces ‘Manzilein’ online career programme | | |  Early Times Report
Jammu, May 3: To reach out students in the remote belts close to the Line of Control, Directorate of School Education Jammu distributed free books to them in different districts of the region.
The Directorate in collaboration with UNICEF has also announced ‘Manzilein’ online career guidance programme.
“Supplementary study material being distributed to the students at their door steps in the border area of Poonch District by teachers of different Schools,” Ms Anuradha Gupta, Director School Education Jammu here said on Sunday.
She said that due to no internet facility in the villages close to the LoC, the staff of different schools, reached out to these students with free books and supplementary material for distribution.
“At many places, where internet facility is available, online classes and activities are in progress in view of lockdown but in bordering areas, books were provided so that the students pursue their regular studies,” she added.
The Director further said, “in collaboration with UNICEF India, we have also announced ‘MANZILEIN’ Online Career Guidance Programme.”
She added that complete information on over 550 careers, more than 21000 colleges and 262,000 programs in around 16 countries is available on www.jkcareerportal.org.
Besides, she said that personalized individual career guidance for every student of Class 9 to 12 who are enrolled with J&K Board of School Education in any Government School of J&K is also available on the website.
“Those who are interested can contact their school, DIET or counselling cell for more information,” she added.
Previously major initiatives of Directorate of School Jammu, “Aao Baat Karein” and “ActivityKaroNa” have already received appreciations from many quarters and the Jammu and Kashmir Administration as the programme engaged children, even parents during lockdown with an aim to keep them updated with studies, co-corricular activity and to de-stress them.
