Now amid Red Zoning, ICDS to hold interviews | Itni Bhi Kya Jaldi Hai? | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, May 3: Amid a nationwide lockdown, the Integrated Child Development Scheme(ICDS) office in Kashmir has yet again come under scanner –this time for calling interviews amid crises. The ICDS office Baramulla has come up with a notice seeking interviews for the posts of District Coordinators and Womens Welfare Officer in the north Kashmir from May 4. “District Coordinator and Womens Welfare Officer, Mahila Shakti Kendra District Baramulla, advertised by this office vide no:01 of 2019, Dated:01-02-2019 that their interview shall be conducted on 04 May, 2020 11:00 am at Dak Bunglow Baramulla. The candidates are advised to bring all the documents in original along with them on the date of interview. The candidates can apply for E-Pass online at www.serviceonline.gov.in,” reads the advertisement by District Programme Officer ICDS. The aspirants said many of the areas in the district are red zone wherefrom no one is allowed to move out. “How will the candidates from Red Zones attend the interviews and what if any such candidate carries infection along,” the candidates said. They alleged that the interviews were being done hurriedly to benefit some “influential.” “Why is there so much of emergency to hold interviews when the world is stuck in a pandemic,” said a delegation of aspirants. Health officials said the interview notice was against the protocol for Covid19. “No body from the Red Zone can be allowed to sit in the interview and given the fact that north Kashmir has numerous Red Zones, the very plan of holding the interview is shady and amounts to criminal negligence,” the health officials said on the condition of anonymity. It’s for the second time in the last few days that the ICDS has come under scanner for such “unusual activities in times of Covid19.” Earlier the ICDS had come under scanner for re-advertising posts of Women Welfare officer and the District Coordinator, which come with a “considerable salary package.” The ICDS had allegedly given a “lame excuse” to seek applications is a two year old notification vide advertisement No. DPO/ICDS /Gbl/2018/MSK/2033 Dated 28.11.2018. “Whereas, in the said Advertisement it was inadvertently mentioned only ‘female candidates’, can apply instead of the word ‘preferably Women candidate’ shall be eligible for selection. Whereas, in view of the above it has been felt expedient to Re-Advertise the posts,” reads the notification. While the ICDS is refuting allegations of corruption and favoritism saying interviews are being held transparently, the aspirants have appealed the government to order a probe. The job aspirants appealed Lieutenant Governor LG Murmu to personally look into the matter.
