Omar questions charging stranded migrant workers for taking them home | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, May 3: Questioning the government decision to charge migrant workers stranded in another state for taking them back to their native place, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday said it was better to get stuck overseas and flown back home for free. Taking to micro blogging site twitter on Sunday Vice President of the National Conference (NC) Omar said “ If you are stuck abroad during this COVID crisis this government will fly you back for free but if you are a migrant worker stranded in another state be prepared to cough up the cost of travel (with social distancing cost added). Where did “PM Cares” go? “The local state government shall handover the tickets to the passengers cleared by them and collect the ticket fare and hand over the total amount to Railways”. Like I said earlier you were better off getting stranded overseas & flown back home!, he tweeted.
