Jammu, June 5: Under the very nose of Jammu district administration the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders are openly organizing the political meetings, violating social distancing norms and restrictions imposed by the government over public gatherings. According to the photographs circulated on social networking sites, the newly nominated District Jammu OBC Morcha team members including its president were felicitated by several senior leaders of the Party as well as Morcha in a function organized on June 4. The vice-president of the BJP, former Minister of state, former legislator, President BJP OBC Morcha JK-UT were present as special guests. Besides Seh-Parbari OBC Morcha, General secretary of Morcha, General Secretary, Executive secretary, secretary OBC Morcha beside others were present on the occasion. All the leaders as well as workers were then instructed to stand in a V-shaped line, so that all the leaders as well as workers could be found in a photograph clicked. In the photographs circulated on the social networking sites, the leaders as well as workers could be seen standing, touching each other in total violation of social-distancing norms. Moreover, maximum of the people in the photograph have not covered their face with the masks, while some have masks in their necks. All this was arranged by the BJP leaders in total violation of the norms and that too at a time, when the COVID-19 infections have been spiking across the country and Jammu and Kashmir. “By openly flouting norms and organizing such meetings, the BJP leaders are actually jeopardizing the lives of thousands of Jammuites. Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi as well as other senior leaders have not been holding such meetings but these J&K leaders have been organizing such programmes, showing thumb to senior leadership”, a BJP leader said, adding that to score some political points, it is unfortunate that BJP leaders are indulging in such activities. Deputy Commissioner Jammu Sushma Chouhan didn’t reply to the queries sent to her about administration granting permission to political gatherings being organized by the BJP. |
