| Annoyed with online election process, Samba Bar members constitute new body | | |  EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, June 20: Annoyed over the conduct of online elections, a section of the Bar members of Samba have resolved to constitute a new body under the name of District Bar Association Samba.
The decision was taken after persistent deliberations by the aggrieved members. The members present in the meeting unanimously elected Adv Sukesh dharma as president, Adv Dharamvir as vice president, Adv Sandeep Bharti as vice president, Adv Sahil Bharti as general secretary, Adv Abhinav Khanmotra as joint secretary, Adv Safeer as joint secretary and Adv Dhanraj Sambyal as cashier.
A series of meetings were held on June 12, 15 and 18 by Bar Association, Samba wherein several members including seniors were present.
In the meetings, the members highlighted the dissatisfaction with the process of online election conducted by the Returning Officer (RO) Adv Charak despite of repeated requests and protests by most of the senior and junior members of the bar, pointing out the anomalies in the online election.
The members said that the attitude of the RO in the whole process of online election was unfair. They said that RO appeared to be biased in favour of one of the candidates and hence didn’t pay any heed to the online protests of large number of voters, adding that the conduct of RO was unconstitutional, not transparent and against all ethics.
The members said that virtual online election allegedly conducted fairly has given rise to a great resentment among the lawyers. |
