SRINAGAR, June 20: The union territory of Jammu & Kashmir continues to witness COVID-19 related deaths as six more persons died due to the Corona Virus in the past 24 hours or so. The death toll due to the virus has reached 81 in the union territory. In the meantime, 154 fresh cases of Corona Virus were reported in the past 24 hours. The total number of positive cases in Jammu & Kashmir is 5,834. While 114 fresh cases were reported from Kashmir division, 40 cases of Corona Virus came up from the Jammu division. Reports said that a death each was reported from Srinagar, Jammu, Kulgam, Pulwama, Shopian and Budgam districts. Srinagar reported 28 fresh cases of virus followed by Baramulla 21, Budgam 20, Shopian 12, Jammu and Pulwama 11 each, Kulgam nine, Kupwara and Kathua seven each, Udhampur and Ramban six each, Doda four, Anantnag and Samba three each, Bandipora two, Ganderbal, Rajouri, Reasi and Kishtwar one each. The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 154 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 40 from Jammu division and 114 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 5,834. Also, six COVID-19 deaths have been reported; one from Jammu division and five from Kashmir division. Moreover, 142 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 81 from Jammu Division and 61 from Kashmir Division. Out of 5,834 positive cases, 2,417 are active positive, 3,336 have recovered and 81 have died; 10 in Jammu division and 71 in Kashmir division. The bulletin said that out of 3, 01,209 test results available, 2, 95,375 samples have tested negative till date. Additionally, till date 2, 51,788 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 38,424 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 29 in hospital quarantine, 2,417 in hospital isolation and 46,668 under home surveillance. Besides, 1, 64,169 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Kulgam has 675 positive cases, 193 active positive, 473 recoveries, nine deaths; Srinagar has 641 positive cases, 396 active positive, 226 recovered, 19 deaths; Shopian has 614 positive cases, 184 active positive, 420 recovered, 10 deaths; Anantnag district has 591 positive cases, 161 active positive, 425 recovered, five deaths; Baramulla has 582 positive cases, 302 active positive, 267 recovered, 13 deaths. “Kupwara has 435 positive cases, 115 active positive, 315 recovered, five deaths; Pulwama has 312 positive cases, 239 active positive, 70 recovered, three deaths; Budgam has 311 positive cases, 176 active positive, 129 recovered, six deaths; Bandipora has 260 positive cases, 45 active positive, 214 recovered, one death and Ganderbal has 67 positive cases, nine active positive, 58 recovered,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 309 positive cases, 109 active positive, 193 recovered, seven deaths; Udhampur has 209 positive cases, 91 active positive, 117 recovered, one death; Ramban has 207 positive cases, 91 active positive, 116 recovered; Kathua has 189 positive cases, 87 active positive, 102 recovered; Samba has 127 positive cases, 77 active positive, 50 recovered. “Poonch has 108 positive cases, 51 active positive, 57 recovered; Rajouri has 74 positive cases, 38 active positive, 35 recovered, one death; Doda has 67 positive cases, 27 active positive, 39 recovered, one death; Reasi has 32 positive cases, 10 active positive, 22 recovered and Kishtwar has 24 positive cases, 16 active positive, eight recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 5,834 positive cases in J&K, 1992 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
