Kupwara residents irked over lack of better road connectivity in distt | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
KUPWARA, June 20: Castigating the government apathy over the lack of better connectivity in the district, the inhabitants of Kupwara district are up in arms against the administration for ‘failing to take steps for the wellbeing of residents’. “Travelling on the roads in Kupwara district has become a nuisance for the commuters while the roads that are in shambles have sometimes led to accidents,’’ the residents in the district told our correspondent. They said that the condition of the roads in the district has worsened. “All roads are in dilapidated conditions. Huge potholes on the stretch give tough time to the commuters, while bumpy rides on these roads leads to bad driving experience,” the local commuters said. Locals said that the worse condition of the road is a continuous agony for commuters. They alleged district administration of improper approach towards the area, which according to them has resulted in non-development of the district headquarter. “Due to the bad condition of the road, the commuters are facing problems,” they added. Inhabitants said the bad condition of roads become a nuisance especially during rains. They said roads like Kupwara-Hyhama, Kupwara- Chowkibal, Lolab road, Main roads in Kupwara Headquarter, Kupwara-Bohipora, Kupwara-Srinagar Highway and other link roads in main town Kupwara were in bad condition and administration was not doing anything. An Official at R&B told our correspondent over the phone that they are waiting for a tender response and added that it will take about ten days.
