JAMMU, July 5: Mohalla Welfare Committee, Ward No 4 Jammu East today demanded declaring of Kali Jani Mohalla as a heritage destination being a historical place for the last so many decades.
Interacting with media persons here Vikram Bhasin, President, Raj Kumar Jain, Sr. Vice president, Rakesh Tak and Rajeshwar Singh Jamwal, Vice presidents, Umesh Malhotra, General Secretary, Prem Badan, Joint Secretary, Ashwani Arora, Cashier and other members of the committee said that Raja Mal Dev had established this historical temple.
They disclosed that Jammu city is Kali Jani literally meaning black stone. It is a huge stone historically recorded to have been carried up from Tawi bank by Raja Mal Dev in the late fourteenth century, at the time of his coronation, to prove his prowess to be a deserving ruler. The stone is now installed as a sacred symbol being worshipped by people.
They appealed to Lt Governor to personally intervene in declaring this historical place as a heritage destination.
