| Dissolve search committee for VC SKUAST-K, demands ABVP | | |

JAMMU, July 5: J&K unit of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has demanded dissolution of the Search Committee-cum-Selection Committee made for the appointment of Vice Chancellor, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology (SKUAST) Kashmir with immediate effect.
Addressing a joint press conference held here today at Vidyarthi Bhawan Ambphalla, ABVP J&K Secretary Mukesh Manhas asserted that the panel which has been made for the appointment of Vice Chancellor SKUAST Kashmir is violating the UGC norms and conditions. He said the convener of Search committee Arun Kumar Mehta, Financial Commissioner, Finance Department JK is a member of Board of Management. According to UGC guidelines Member of Board of Management can't be the member of Selection Committee.
He further asked the government that how a member of Board of Management can be the convener of Selection Committee. It is totally violating the UGC guidelines. The government is trying to assail as well degrade the autonomy of the universities day by day. The government has done this kind of mistake when Search Committee was formed for appointing the Vice Chancellor of Cluster University of Jammu as well as Kashmir. When ABVP opposes it government changed the decision, search committee was changed and new search committee was formed, he added.
ABVP demands the Search Committee-cum-Selection Committee which has made for the appointment of Vice Chancellor SKUAST Kashmir should be dissolved with immediate effect and a new Search-cum-Selection committee should be constituted. |
