JAMMU, July 9: The management and inmates of Home for the Aged and Infirm (Popularly known as Vridh Ashram) at Ambphalla, Jammu celebrated 120th Birth Anniversary of its founder R N Prabhakar by performing Hawan-Poojan in the morning. The president I D Soni, Commissioner J&K Bharat Scouts and Guides paid rich tributes to Prabhakar, who retired as Head Master, devoted his life in service of the poor, aged destitute and infirm members of the society. He described him as a great visionary who could foresee necessity of such a Home for aged and infirm persons in the ever changing society. He was a well-known social worker who made a significant contribution for care and upliftment of such needy, hapless and destitute persons. This Institution was established on June, 8th 1964 with mere one room on a piece of land obtained on lease from Ved Mandir Committee. The Home registered as a Society on February 20, 1965, now has emerged as a Premier Centre in the State for service to the old and infirm persons of the society. Besides Patron Prem Gupta, Vice President H S Manhas, Joint Secretary Er Vijay Gupta, Managing Committee Members Er B B Gupta, Nirmala Zutshi, R C Vaid, Er Pankaj Gupta, Vinod Kumar and Dinesh Gupta also participated in the limited celebrations on the occasion due to prevailing COVID-19 restrictions. |
