Jammu, July 11: A national webinar on Employability and Skill Gap was organized by Govt Degree College Bishnah in collaboration with Counselling Cell Higher Education Department, UT of J&K for the students, faculty and parents. The national webinar was attended by more than 182 participants including students, faculty, parents from our UT of J&K, New Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh in a.To begin with, the patron of the Webinar, Dr Anuradha Pandoh, Principal of the college welcomed all the participants and speakers. The Chief patron Talat Parvez Rohella, Commissioner/ Secretary HED, in his key note address elaborated on the employable skills required in the emergent pandemic situation due to Covid-19 and informed that HED, UT of J&K is taking necessary steps in the direction of developing market oriented employability skills among the students by restructuring the curriculum accordingly. He further emphasized on the introduction of the skill oriented degree courses like Chartered Accountancy, IT and Horticulture for equipping the students with market oriented employable skills. The resource persons Gourav Sachdeva, Career Counsellor, Career Guidance Service, New Delhi, Dr Sandeep Kumar Associate Professor, Deptt. Of Psychology, HU, Varanasi and Abhishekh Sharma, Behavioural & Soft Skill Trainer Assistant Professor, Sardar Patel Police University Jodhpur elaborated the various employable skills to gain, retain and succeed in the employment sector. Abhishekh Sharma focused on Professional, Technical and soft skills, Dr Sandeep Kumar talked on 21st Century Employability Skills including Scientific skill, Critical Thinking Skills, Adaptability skills, communication skills Ethics, Leadership skills coping skills and Gourav Sachdeva threw light on Personal and Vocational Guidance. He also chaired the question-answer session and responded the queries of the participants. The proceedings of the webinar were coordinated by Dr Alka Sharma, Organizing Secretary of the National Webinar and Prof Ambica Sharma, Nodal Officer Counselling Cell HED.
