SRINAGAR, July 19: There seems to be no let up in the Corona Virus cases in the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir as 701 fresh cases of the virus were reported today. The death toll due to COVID-19 reached 244 as eight more people died in the past 24 hours. Reports said that two deaths each were reported from Srinagar and Baramulla districts with Shopian, Pulwama, Budgam and Rajouri districts reporting one death each. So far 225 COVID-19 deaths have taken place in Kashmir while as the number of such deaths in Jammu are 19. Srinagar has the highest number of casualties with the figure being 61. Reports said that Srinagar reported 290 fresh cases of Corona Virus followed by Kupwara 84 cases, Baramulla 53 cases, Pulwama 46 cases, Jammu and Rajouri 40 cases each, Anantnag 28 cases, Bandipora 27 cases, Ganderbal 24 cases, Shopian and Budgam 21 cases each, Kathua eight cases, Kulgam and Udhampur seven cases each, Doda three cases and Reasi two cases. The Jammu & Kashmir government through the media bulletin informed that 701 new positive cases of novel Corona Virus (COVID-19), 100 from Jammu division and 601 from Kashmir division, have been reported today thus taking the total number of positive cases in Jammu and Kashmir to 13,899. Also eight COVID-19 deaths have been reported; one from Jammu division and seven from Kashmir Division. Moreover, 646 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and discharged from various hospitals, 27 from Jammu Division and 619 from Kashmir Division. Out of 13,899 positive cases, 5,844 are active positive, 7,811 have recovered and 244 have died; 19 in Jammu division and 225 in Kashmir division. Out of 5, 07,678 test results available, 4, 93,779 samples have tested negative till date. Additionally, till date 3, 30,430 travelers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been enlisted for surveillance which included 38,173 persons in home quarantine including facilities operated by government, 13 in hospital quarantine, 5,844 in hospital isolation and 42,662 under home surveillance. Besides, 2, 43,494 persons have completed their surveillance period. The bulletin said that Srinagar has 2901 positive cases, 1837 active positive, 1003 recovered, 61 deaths; Baramulla has 1580 positive cases, 634 active positive, 896 recovered, 50 deaths; Kulgam has 1147 positive cases, 331 active positive, 792 recovered, 24 deaths; Shopian has 1103 positive cases, 311 active positive, 773 recovered, 19 deaths; Anantnag district has 1060 positive cases, 338 active positive, 704 recovered, 18 deaths. “Kupwara has 917 positive cases, 360 active positive, 544 recovered, 13 deaths; Pulwama has 888 positive cases, 372 active positive, 504 recovered, 12 deaths; Budgam has 770 positive cases, 338 active positive, 413 recovered, 19 deaths; Bandipora has 455 positive cases, 115 active positive, 335 recovered, five deaths and Ganderbal has 291 positive cases, 176 active positive, 111 recovered, four deaths,” reads the bulletin. The bulletin said that Jammu has 624 positive cases, 207 active positive, 406 recovered, 11 deaths; Rajouri has 379 positive cases, 268 active positive, 109 recovered, two deaths; Kathua has 360 positive cases, 112 active positive, 247 recovered, one death; Udhampur has 331 positive cases, 39 active positive, 291 recovered, one death; Samba has 328 positive cases, 153 active positive, 174 recovered, one death. “Ramban has 318 positive cases, 94 active positive, 224 recovered; Doda has 161 positive cases, 71 active positive, 88 recovered, two deaths; Poonch has 152 positive cases, 27 active positive, 124 recovered, one death; Kishtwar has 68 positive cases, 40 active positive, 28 recovered and Reasi has 66 positive cases, 21 active positive, 45 recovered,” reads the bulletin. Out of 13,899 positive cases in J&K, 3,282 have been reported as travelers. The bulletin has informed the people that, the best way to protect themselves from COVID-19 is by maintaining physical distance of at least 2 metres from others, frequently cleaning hands with an alcohol based hand sanitizer or washing them with soap and water and following good respiratory etiquette and hygiene. As a measure for social distancing in public places and workplaces wearing a face cover is compulsory. |
