Sajjad Lone released after about 1 yr detention | | | EArly Times Report
Srinagar, July, 31: Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference (PC) chairman Sajjad Gani Lone was on Friday released after about one year long detention. Taking to micro blogging site Twitter, Lone said on Friday, “ Finally 5 days short of a year I have been officially informed that I am a free man. So much has changed. So have I. Jail was not a new experience. Earlier ones were harsh with usual doses of physical torture. But this was psychologically draining. Much to share hopefully soon”. However, PC on party twitter account said “ J&K Peoples Conference Chairman Mr. Sajad Gani Lone has been officially released after completing 360 days in detention." Mr Lone, who was a minister in Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) coalition government from the quota of saffron party, was arrested and detained in MLA hostel which was converted into sub jail where over 35 former ministers, legislators and senior leaders of political parties were lodged on August 5, 2019 when centre scrapped Article 370 and divided the state into two Union Territories (UTs) after suspending all communication network. However, Lone was later released from MLA hostel after six moths and put under house arrest since February.
