‘Demand of inclusion of Punjabi as official language in J&K’ | Sikh Organisations hail Manish Tewari raising issues in Parliament | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 15: An emergency meeting of various Sikh organizations J&K held under the Chairmanship of S Sudarshan Singh Wazir Chairman Sikh United Front J&K. In the meeting the participants welcomed the voice raised by Manish Tewari, Member of Parliament Shri Anandpur Sahib Punjab for inclusion of Punjabi language as official language in J&KUT. The Sikh United Front resented that Harsimrat Kour being member of cabinet committee where bill for official languages of J&KUT is approved could not perform her role to provide justice to Punjabi speaking people of J&KUT. The Sikh organizations appealed to the Akali dal MPs in general and Harsimar Kour Badal in particular to play a pivotal role for inclusion of Punjabi as official language in Jammu Kashmir Union Territory. While addressing the meeting S. Sudarshan Singh Wazir showed anguish over the step motherly treatment of Union Government to the Punjabi speaking people of J&K UT by keeping Punjabi language out of official languages. The union government declared English, Urdu, Hindi, Kashmiri and Dogri as official languages and Punjabi has been kept out of the official languages. The Govt. on one hand announced a new education policy and envisages compulsory education to children up to fifth in their mother tongue and on the other hand excluded Punjabi language and done injustice to Punjabi speaking children and violation of new education policy. |
