Novel Sharma raises concern over non release of pensions by SWD | | | Early Times Report
RAJOURI, Sept 15: Pension for Old Age, Widow and specially disabled persons has not been released for last nearly four years adding suffering to suffering of these dependent people. The pensions for the mentioned people have to be relapsed on monthly basis by J&K Social Welfare Department which has been held for over years. While listening to grievances of beneficiaries of government pension scheme, Novel Sharma, social activist from Lamberi area of Rajouri District drew the attention of Social Welfare Department towards the delay of pension of aforesaid beneficiaries. Sharma criticized the SWD for not releasing the pension for the last 3 to 4 years, adding that this adds to suffering of old people, widows and disabled persons since they are fully dependent on their pension. “These people are totally dependent on this pension scheme to fulfill their daily needs and apparently it is not possible for them to work at this age and while being a disabled one,” he asserted. “During this time of Covid-19 pandemic they are forced to roam from pillar to post to withdraw their monthly pension,” Sharma said and added that at this old age they ramble from one bank branch to another first to confirm their pension and after that to avail it. “Most of the times the concerned Social Welfare Department does not release their pension on time and delay it,” Sharma said.
