AWSC expresses concern over prevailing healthcare situation in Jammu | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Sept 21: In context with the coronavirus in Jammu, an online meeting of the executive body of the Association for Welfare of Senior Citizens, (AWSC) Jammu was held. All members expressed deep concern over the prevailing situation within Jammu regarding inadequate medical facilities in Jammu and mismanagement in covid-19 wards in GMC Jammu. Members said that several media reports have highlighted the shortage of liquid oxygen, medicines and totally failed system under the nose of UT Govt and Jammu leaders who are getting medical treatment at private health institutes which have been reserved for VIPs only and common public is left with only a few two or three badly managed hospitals in Jammu. Common public, especially senior citizens, dying without any treatment is a matter of serious concern. AWSC wants to draw the attention of Lt Governor towards this neglect of medical facilities in Jammu and demands sufficient staff along with provision of senior doctors, proper facilities viz. toilets for patients as the existing ones are damaged, very dirty and not fit for use . Monitoring of treatment on CCTV in the wards by the grievances redressal monitoring cell created by the LG is required. The only advanced medicine for Covid-19 treatment is either not available or not being given to any patient in Jammu whereas it's being given free to patients in valley. It demanded more beds facilities should be created in banquet halls or other such places to cope up with the rising number of cases.
