AAP expresses concern over exclusion of Punjabi language | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Sept 21: Aam Aadmi Party leader, National Jt. Secretary, National Council member Ankush Narang has expressed its serious concern over exclusion of Punjabi language in the official languages of Union Territory of J&K. In a statement Ankush Narang said that Punjabi is over centuries old language and the demand from the Sikh and others punjabi spoken peoples community for inclusion of Punjabi language as official language of Union Territory of J&K is very much genuine and need to be addressed at the earliest. Narang condemned the Union Government decision on deliberately ignoring of Punjabi language and said that this act of the government had created strong resentment among the Minority Community in J&K. He said that exclusion of Punjabi language is a discriminatory move against the minority community. Punjabi language was a compulsory subject like Urdu in J&K till 1981, but now it has been totally neglected by the Centre. He further said that Aam Aadmi Party welcomes the decision of Union Cabinet for approving Hindi, Kashmiri, Dogri, Urdu and English as official languages in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. But its very unfortunate that the Punjabi has been exclusion from the official language of Union Territory of J&K. |
