Srinagar, Sept 22: Extending gratitude to the government for clearing technical hiccups which were impeding the development of Chanchmarag-Shadab Shopian to Dubjen road connecting historic Mughal road, Apni Party (AP) on Tuesday said it will benefit lakhs of people in the region. Vice-president of the AP Zaffar Iqbal Manhas on Tuesday expressed his deep appreciation for Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and the chief secretary B V R Subrahmanyam for their personal intervention in clearance of this long pending road connectivity project. ''I congratulate Lt Governor and the chief secretary for taking keen interest in clearance of this the long-pending road project, the completion of which shall benefit more than two lakh people of upper reaches of Shopian, Pulwama and Budgam districts,'' Manhas said. He observed that this road will also work as an alternate bypass to Shopian town. ''I have been personally running from pillar to post for the last ten years for this project. But thanks to the present dispensation, this project of immense importance has finally materialised,'' he remarked. Manhas said that the efficient road connectivity contributes not only in terms of reduction in travel time but also paves way for rapid socio-economic development of the people. ''The clearance of this significant road project reflects the J&K government's priority for this important sector which will surely increment the standard of living of the people in the area,'' he added.
