DH Poonch mishandling COVID cases, allege locals | ‘Doctors missing, patients wait for tests’ | | RAJESH TANDON
EARLY TIMES REPORT
POONCH, Sept 22: The District Hospital (DH) Poonch has allegedly been adopting a casual approach in managing COVID-19 patients as they are being kept waiting for tests due to absence of doctors in the hospital. In the latest incident, an Advocate namely Sanjay Raina, the local resident, was reported positive a few days ago and after spending several days in home quarantine today he went to District Hospital Poonch for COVID test but shockingly there was no concerned person present to attend the patients. “We reached the hospital today and continued to wait for 2:30 hours but nobody turned up to attend. Despite repeated inquiry with the hospital staff, we were told that doctors as well as concerned staff are not present. We had to wait for long,” he said. Angered about the casual approach of the hospital administration, one of them made a video of the incidents, which later went viral and people came to know about the malfunctioning of the hospital. Not only this, even the emergency wards of the hospital are not sanitized. There is a Whatsapp group of doctors, who also expressed their concerne about shortage of various medical equipment required for treating COVID patients. They highlighted the issue of oxygen, oxymeter, PPE kits etc. Meanwhile, in another incident, a COVID patient, who was also in home quarantine, was badly treated by a doctor of Mendhar Hospital, who called the patient for a test and later sent him to the quarantine center without any explanation. When Early Times contacted CMO Poonch in this connection, he said that whatever funds are allocated for the COVID have been distributed among health centres across the district. |
