Omar looks for house away from Gupkar family | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Sept 27: Former Chief Minister and National Conference, President, Omar Abdullah is looking for a new house away from native Gupkar where his parents live close to his official accommodation here. Omar, who has formally announced that he would quit his official accommodation comprising of two bungalows at Gupkar, is looking for a house in posh localities adjacent to Gupkar. It was reliably learnt that Omar is going by the dictation of his “close friends” based in Delhi to decide about the selection of the new house. Sources said though his parents have told him to join them at their ancestral house, it was reliably learnt that Omar was unwilling to live with them. Sources said Omar was interested more in Nishat and Raj Bagh localities of Srinagar. It was reliably learnt that Omar was looking for an independent house with “ample parking and lawn.” Sources said Omar has told his close aides to look for a house which can accommodate around ten vehicles at a time. But the sources said the locality to find the house is dependent on security concerns. “His first priority is a secured area and for that he has been in contact with some of his friends in the security establishment,” said a source. Sources said even though the National Conference leaders are of the opinion that he should live with his elderly parents, he is unwilling to buy the suggestion. Sources said he has been in touch with some of his close friends in Kashmir who are looking for an accommodation for him. Omar had recently taken to Twitter to announce that he would quit his official accommodation comprising of two bungalows in posh Gupkar locality. Officials said he was among the “rare politicians enjoying double accommodation in a single area.” Despite repeated attempts, Omar was not available for comments.
