Jammu, Oct 2: IEC University organized virtual convocation ceremony, awarding degrees to the students. For the Convocation, there was a very limited physical audience comprising of hand-picked students to make symbolic presence and some academic guests. Majority of students were connected to the ceremony via internet / video-conferencing and presented their degree virtually. In all, 440 students were awarded degrees for completing various courses. “This innovative approach was undertaken to minimise the health risk but at the same time, the esteemed tradition and sanctity of Convocation Ceremony needed to be held too,” said Dr Anju Saxena, Vice-Chancellor of IECU. "The year 2020 has changed the entire modus operandi not only of the country but of the world," she said, referring to the ongoing pandemic. "The quicker we adapt to this new change, the better it will be for the country and we will be on the way to progress." Dr Anju Saxena, Vice-Chancellor of IECU added. The Chief Guest for the third Convocation ceremony was Pro. (Dr.) Kuldeep Chand Agnihotri, Vice-Chancellor, Central University, Himachal Pradesh while Guest of Honours included Dr Manpreet Singh Manna, Faculty SLIET Longowala and former Director – AICTE; and Dr. Amna Mirza, Assistant Professor, Political Studies, SPM College, University of Delhi. |
