Extend expiry dates of amnesty schemes till Mar 31 | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct, 24: Federation of Retailers Associations Jammu (FRAJ) urged the Government of J&K UT to extend the expiry dates of amnesty schemes till March 31, 2021 In an emergency meeting the executive members of Federation of Retailers Association Jammu under the chairmanship of Yash Paul Gupta it is resolved that the UT government of J&K should be impressed upon to extend the expiry dates of amnesty schemes as announced earlier till 31st March 2021. "These amnesty schemes were granted by the UT government with regard to the pending amounts against commercial taxes including sales tax, VAT and service tax, etc., pending amounts of electricity bills and pending amount of water taxes," Gupta said. Gupta said "Since these schemes are expiring on 31st October 2020 members wanted the extension of date because of the facts that all the economic activities have suffered so much that it will not be possible for the trading community to deposit lump sum amount till the notified date. Moreover, the entire process being online the networking of 2G is so slow and cumbersome that there is long queue for getting the proper information from any quater resulting which the required formalities cannot be completed in time." "Further the traders are under great pressure of huge loans from banks and other financial institutions. Moreover government has repeatedly appealed that the services of the employees of the establishments should not be terminated, hence the regular expense of salaries cannot be stopped," Gupta said. Therefore authorities are again appealed to give a pragmatic and sympathetic consideration by extending the date of amnesty schemes till 31st March 2021, he added. |
