Early Times Report

POONCH, Oct 29: The laxity on the part of the Poonch police can be gauged from the fact that it has been more than four years, the culprits of grenade attack, who strike at r Budha Amarnath Temple wherein two dozen people were injured including pilgrims are still at large beyond reach of police, which poses serious question mark on the functioning of police.
Sources told Early Times that agencies have sounded alert to the police and had identified some people in this connection but the concerned police failed to take preventive measures which resulted in grenade blast but the thing which brought the Poonch police under doubt that even after the incident, it could not put the accused behind the bar.
The local people alleged that there was some political pressure on the police, which restricted them to take action and let the culprits roam free, which encouraged the spirit of miscreants and anti national elements in the district to carry out such more attacks and the recent attack is the outcome of this laxity of the police.
When Early Times contacted the DySP Operation, he said that police have been investigating the matter. Locals demanded immediate arrest of those behind the attack of 2016, which are now creating fear among the common people and trying to sabotage peace and tranquility. When contacted by the then SSP, he said that he was transferred in 2019 and don't know the reason behind that why no arrest of the culprits
