Ultimately Mirwaiz comes out of hibernation after Aug 5, 2019 | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Oct 31: Exactly one year after implementation of the J&K Reorganization Act in the erstwhile state of J&K, Hurriyat leader Mirwaiz Umar Farooq came out of the hibernation to oppose new land laws notified by the Union Government. Realizing that protests against new land laws have started in Jammu as well as in Kashmir, Mirwaiz jumped into the controversy to reactive himself in the separatists’ camp. After August 5, 2019, almost all separatist leaders have been gone into the hibernation after Centre arrested some of them including JKLF leader Yasin Malik and Shabir Shah. On Saturday Mirwaiz called for shutdown against the new land laws notified by the Centre. Although impact of strike was partial, Mirwaiz has reactivated himself in the separatists’ camp. He called the new Jammu and Kashmir land laws, which allow outsiders to purchase land in the UT as “anti-people”. First time after August 5, 2019, Hurriyat Conference has issued a strong statement on October 28, accusing the government of following a policy of permanent demographic change and aggressively out to “snatch our land, destroy our identity and turn us into a minority in our own land”. |
