Millions embezzled in Mandi-Phagla CRF road, authorities unmoved | | | rajesh tandon Early Times Report
POONCH, Nov 1: The locals of Fatehpur, Dhara and surrounding areas today accused the Public Works (R&B) Department of giving a free hand to a contractor to embezzle millions of rupees in the construction work of Mandi-Phagla CRF road. Local sources said the government has released 42 crores for 52 kilometers CRF road in this decade and concerned contractor without doing proper work while being hand in glove with concern concerned engineers of the department has used all funds in records but nothing has been done on ground. The road from initial stage up to 5 kilometers is under PWD whereas remaining 52 kilometers is of CRF which is also intern of PWD Poonch. Locals said, "Restoration work from 0-6 kilometers was allotted to a blue eyed contractor who is not starting his work and authorities have also kept him free. The road is inviting accidents." They have appealed Lieutenant Governor of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir to constitute a team for thorough investigation of embezzled funds and take strict action against contractors and involved officials of PWD. When correspondent asked Executive Engineer PWD Poonch, he didn't give his comments in this regard. |
