New land law will snatch Dogra identity of Jammu; Partap | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Nov 3: Reacting over the newly introduced land laws by the centre, which allows everyone from outside Jammu and Kashmir to buy land in the erstwhile State, political activist Partap Singh Jamwal said that this law will snatch Dogra identity of Jammu. Speaking to the journalists on the sidelines of the protest against new law, Jamwal said that Dogra Ruler Maharaja Hari Singh had enacted State Subject laws in Jammu and Kashmir, so as to give protection to the poor farmers of the State from being robbed of their lands by powerful land mafia and rich non-state subjects. He said, “The unilateral decisions of the government at centre are turning disastrous for Jammu and Kashmir, especially Jammu. This new land law has done away with the much hyped domicile as well as state subject.” He added that Jammu would be the prime victim of this law and the culture and identity of Dogras will be eliminated. “The State subject needs to be enacted, so that outsiders could be barred from participating in selections for government jobs and from buying lands and other properties of poor through distress sales,” Partap said and added that the center should restore statehood of the Jammu and Kashmir along with comprehensive domicile rights on land and jobs for its residents. “Any law which doesn’t safeguard the interest and rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir would be unacceptable,” he said. |
