Rajouri, Nov 3: Sangarsh-A Civic Movement for Justice, Equality, Peace, Prosperity and Brotherhood showed its grave concern over burning of garbage in the dustbins installed in the municipal jurisdiction of town Rajouri. This open burning of garbage which includes plastic, glass and other waste material is the major cause of creating chemical, biological and toxic pollution in the area which is felt from the last few years, opined Shaida Maqsood Sabri, District Coordinator of Sangarsh. When the waste material and plastic are burned openly the pollutant particles mix with air and water in form of droplets and causes pollution and this open burning of garbage and waste material is threatening the healthy life style as the quality of both air we breathe and water we drink are getting bad day by day. This burning of garbage is not a one day story, one can find it at every nook and corner every day and to be acquainted with the ground realities the activists of Sangarsh survey it for a week and it is found that every day tons of garbage burned by the municipal corporation of Rajouri not at a proper place but inside the residential areas and that too inside the dustbins that are installed to put the garbage, the statement added. Advocate Priya Sharma, Spokespersons of the movement expressing her concern said that both district administration and local municipal officials are in deep slumber and no attention has been paid on burning the garbage in open and residential localities.
