Ayurvedic College Akhnoor upgraded, BAMS seats increased from 50 to 63 | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 5: Ministry of AYUSH Government of India has conveyed its approval for upgradation of Government Ayurvedic Medical College, Akhnoor Jammu from the current 50 seats to 63 seats (including EWS). This has been made possible by the diligent efforts of Health & Medical Education Department especially personal efforts of Atal Dulloo, Financial Commissioner Health & Medical Education of J&K by fulfilling all the necessary prerequisites and as per the recommendation of Central Council of Indian Medicine, Ministry of AYUSH, Govt of India. It is in place to mention that the College has been constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 25 crore. Recently four Associated hospitals viz Govt Ayurvedic Hospital, Jammu, Associated Hospital of Ayurvedic College at Akhnoor, Govt Unani Hospital, Shalteng Srinagar and Associated Hospital of Unani College Ganderbal Kashmir, of both Govt Ayurvedic Medical College and Govt Unani Medical College have been upgraded to 60 beds from the current 50 beds. The teaching and non-teaching staff of both Ayurvedic/ Unani Colleges have already been created and notification for recruitment of staff for college and hospital has been issued and the posts are expected to be filled on priority basis shortly. Director ISM, Dr Mohan Singh informed that all the gaps with regard to infrastructure development at Akhnoor have been fulfilled and pending Rs 4.61 Crore have been released and 90% of construction work of both college and hospital blocks has been completed. He said that water and electricity connection, starting of OPD services at Associated Hospital at Akhnoor, construction of internal roads in the premises of the College have been completed. He further added that the gaps with respect to faculty have been filled through deployment of Staff from ISM, Department and establishment of Herbal Garden in the college campus is under progress. The requisite furniture, fixture, IT equipment for smooth functioning of the college and hospital has been procured. It will be in place to mention that all the formalities for starting of the First batch of BUMS course for Government Unani Medical College Ganderbal have also been fulfilled and the first BUMS batch is also expected to be started from the current academic session after receiving of letter of permission from Ministry of AYUSH Govt. of India. |
