Extraordinary effort on the part of the teachers to take online classes during Covid-19 | | | S M Sarfaraz
No one had imagined that online or virtual classes will be held especially in Jammu and Kashmir, but Covid-19 made it possible as there was no other option available till yesterday, as many things have improved now, but still there is a threat of virus. Coronavirus has not only took lives in thousands or lakhs, but it has also brought a drastic change in lifestyle since 2019 around the globe, and JK is not far affected place where maximum people are still unaware of basic 3 R(s) learning skills like reading, writing and arithmetic and it was dead impossible for them to gain learning skills through online classes. Jhelum Breeze Army Pre Primary School (JBAPPS) Baramulla has also not left any stone unturned to reach out to its students, it is quite seen that Covid-19 has resulted in schools shut all across the globe and more than one billion children are out of the classroom, and as a result education has changed dramatically with the distinctive rise of e-learning, where by teaching is undertaken remotely and on digital platforms, and as for as this military school is concerned, the staff members of this pre primary school also worked hard to reach out to students to attain the education through different mediums. Fact of the matter is that, around 186 countries were affected by school closures due to the pandemic, and Schools associated with Central Board of School Education (CBSE) or military schools also did their best to reach out to the students during this pandemic. There are however some challenges to overcome like students without reliable internet access especially in J&K where the government has gagged 4G internet to its users since August 5/2019, except two districts and rest of the people especially students are facing a lot of hardships in their day today life. However Ms Nadiya Sultan, my teacher made it possible to keep me busy during this pandemic and it was all due to efforts of CO Madam, Garvita Vimlendra, Coordinator Mrs Satbir Kour, Manmeet Kour and other staff members who motivated all the students to get ready for e learning through different modes of communication. Attending online classes are opposed to a classroom but although it is a commendable, extraordinary effort on the part of the teachers especially Ms Nadiya to take these sessions and there is nothing overtly lacking as of now except live classrooms. Interesting part of the online classes is that in the first half of the morning, the teacher sends us recorded lessons on WhatsApp. We have to watch the videos and they give us exercises to do. Most of the day goes by in this, but it has given us a new experience of advanced technologies during this pandemic. Our teachers try to keep the online classes lively by picking on a random name or a roll number to check whether we are there and paying attention as they also want us to understand what’s going on in the world, that was almost impossible for us to understand if it could not have happened around the world. At the same time, there are some technical problems that are being faced by students, like sometimes the teacher’s voice may have gone ahead while the presentation is frozen and sometimes, calls get disconnected or the voice echoes or overlaps. We hope that in the coming months, we will get rid of this pandemic and our schools will get reopen as it was functioning earlier, this military school (JBAPPS) has not changed my life style but made me to understand that we should be ready for any challenges that may happen anytime in the future. |
